How We Review
Our approach to documenting and evaluating Cleaner: Clean Up Storage is straightforward. We test the app directly, document what we observe, and present findings without embellishment.
Grounded in direct observation
This site exists to provide clear, factual information about Cleaner: Clean Up Storage. Everything documented here comes from hands-on use of the app across different device types and storage scenarios. We don't accept promotional materials as a substitute for direct testing.
How each feature gets documented
Initial Installation
We install the app on a device with a realistic storage state. Not artificially full, not freshly wiped. A device that reflects typical use after several months.
Feature Exploration
Each feature is tested independently before being tested in combination with others. We document what each option does, what it surfaces, and how recommendations are presented.
Edge Case Testing
We specifically test scenarios where incorrect recommendations could cause problems. Files with similar names, recently accessed large files, and media that exists in multiple formats.
Update Tracking
When the app updates, we re-test affected features and document changes. The review process isn't a one-time event but an ongoing observation of how the app evolves.
Documentation
Findings are written in plain language without technical jargon. The goal is for any iPhone user to understand what a feature does and how it behaves before they use it.
What we look at
The review process focuses on practical utility. Does the feature do what it says? Are the recommendations safe? Is the interface clear enough that a non-technical user can act confidently?
We also pay attention to what the app doesn't do. Limitations are documented alongside capabilities. A cleaning app that is too aggressive in its recommendations is as problematic as one that misses obvious storage waste.
Accuracy
Do scan results correctly identify the file types and sizes they claim to?
Safety
Are important files protected from accidental removal by the recommendation logic?
Performance
How long does each scan type take, and does it affect device performance during the scan?
Usability
Can a user who has never used a cleaning app navigate the interface without confusion?
What shapes what we write
This site is an independent informational resource. It is not produced by the app's developers and does not represent their official communications. We describe what the app does based on observation. We do not make promotional claims, and we do not receive compensation that influences how features are described.
When features change in an update, we update the documentation. When something doesn't work as expected during testing, we note that too. The goal is a resource that helps you understand the app before you download it.
